Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

24/12/2006

Merry Christmas(聖誕快樂)!

finally...

finally finished the draft of my essay... and then now need to progress to my exams... well, christmas is in-between but i don't feel quite enthusiastic about it this year... i haven't got myself a gift... i'm too afraid of my exams... (i thought last year was a bad enough christmas, in terms of mood and stress, but well, it didnt get better this year...)

oh, and i think i am addicted to family guy... i can't say i love stewie or maybe brian yet... but i think im getting there...

great pictures of 2006...

was reading yahoo news just now when i saw reuter's pictures of the year... and this is my favorite...

the caption read, "U.S. President George W. Bush hands back a crying baby that was handed to him from the crowd as he arrived for an outdoor dinner with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Trinwillershagen, Germany." he looks more like a comedian than a president...

and this is for my cousin gilberto -- guess who is the person covered in the black veil and robes in the picture? if you don't recognize him (yes, it's a him), this is your idol michael jackson photographed in bahrain, dressed as a muslim woman... seriously, why do u like him?

makes me wonder what are these people thinking... "wait till i win enough money to rebuild those ruins?!" i thought shanghai was a great place with rather educated chinese people but i didnt know things were like this in the suburbs...

awww, the world cup times... so many memories... so many lost bets... and a very angry zinedine zidane...

florescent green pig bred by taiwanese stem-cell researchers... this is gross, a disgrace to our pig species!! what will they breed next? glowing blue chickens?? what are these people thinking??

to my other cousin joana -- look!! i found a picture of kimi (raikkonen)!!! sorry it was crashed car in the picture...

well, there are more than 150 pictures of war, starvation, floods and other tragic events in those 208... i really hope in 2007 the world will be a better place... breaks my heart when i saw some of those bloody pictures... oh, and a warmer picture to mark an end to this post... mama giraffe and baby giraffe at a loving pose... (em, by baby, i mean it is 6 feet tall!!!)

home cooking

sleeping facts for my dear friends

i am never a fan of sleeping... i like staying up late and waking up late... never liked afternoon naps even though i was really tired... i like staying in bed doing silly stuff like reading or hiding under the blankets but not sleeping... there are always times when i roll back and forth on my bed but i just cant fall asleep... tried counting sheep but the longer i count, the more awake i am... tired reading a really boring book or studying, but it doesnt really help... i will just hide under my blanket or look at the ceiling... (well, people do complain they cant wake me up by calling me on the phone... the truth is, i am awake but i just dont wanna get off my bed to pick up the phone so im not actually sleeping...)

i have always been jealous of people who can fall as
leep anywhere anytime... like my friends katie and lawrence, who can fall asleep while talking on the phone, or mid-way through a conversation, not to mention during long classes... yes, like u stopped talking for like 30 seconds and u can find lawrence already sleeping soundly in his chair... u can call katie at any afternoon and if no one picks up the phone, she's sleeping... i always think they're just super-human...

i was reading random blogs when i came upon these sleeping facts... but there are some which i think are not entirely accurate in my experience...

- Anything less than five minutes to fall asleep at night means you're sleep deprived. The ideal is between 10 and 15 minutes, meaning you're still tired enough to sleep deeply, but not so exhausted you feel sleepy by day.

i dont really think my above-mentioned friends are sleep deprived... they sleep more than 8 hours most of the time and i cant imagine anyone can be sleep deprived after those long periods of sound sleep...

- Snoring occurs only in non-REM sleep

then how come i get woken up 10+ times every time i slept in the same room with my parents?? hm, im certain they snore the whole night... or does that mean they only have non-REM sleep?? next time should check whether their eyes move when they sleep...

- Experts say one of the most alluring sleep distractions is the 24-hour accessibility of the internet.

finally this is something i find true, haha...

and look at what i have stolen from that same person's blog!! this is something i call FUNNY!!

lonely dinner (but i'm so FULL!!)

so today is the second day im all alone again... i wanted to stay in but i desperately needed some fresh air cuz my room's all stuffy and smells of kimchi... so i went out to the zhongguancun shopping mall AGAIN (like the 3rd time this week), haha... and i finally got the gift so i dont need to think about it anymore...

that mall is a huge complex... with all the shops and restaurants from wangfujing and world trade... there is PAUL FRANK!! well, though everything is last season and short-sleeved and they have only 3 items from small paul, im still happy to see my favorite monkey head... if only they have more small paul items... and then there's calvin klein jeans (good window-shopping spot), and then tough denim (where i got my salad purse) and levi's (where i got the gift)... and then there's MNG (my bugs bunny tee), and ebase... and of course there is i.t!!! hehe... shopping paradise if i have the money...

and across the street there's carrefour, haagen-dazs, sephora, and 7-11... and sanrio and aji ichiban... and bread talk... and pepper lunch... and strangely enough, they have TUPPERWARE!! oh my, i never thought there will be a tupperware store to satisfy my fetish of microwavable containers...

and today i went to eat at this place called "chamate"/"chatea"... its actually a modern tea restaurant, serving taiwanese food and good tea... as usual when im alone, i tend to order too much... and i ordered so much stuff the waiter thought i was kidding... but today, i pretty much finished everything!!! everything including the pickled cabbage and the side-dish... the food is so good i want to order one more bowl of rice... and the special thing is that all the dishes come with a mini fire underneath to keep the food hot throughout the meal... im so stuffed after i finished my drink i couldnt move for a while... and it made me give up my starbucks caramel macchiato... and i got their membership card so i can go there and eat at a discount and a prepaid card... its just that good!!

right... im a very stuffed lonely person... :P
